New land, development and property agency launched

Two senior figures in the National Development & Planning Department at Strutt & Parker have left the firm to set up their own land, development and property agency business.

Newton LDP Ltd has been established by Richard Foxon and Piers Beeton, who are well-known, experienced and respected operators within the development land sector having worked for Strutt & Parker for a combined 22 years.

Their new company will initially offer development consultancy and development land agency advice backed up by their proven track record, strong reputation, unrivalled contact base and exceptional market knowledge.  The firm will advise a range of a clients including Landowners, Charities, Trusts, Corporate Businesses, Housing Associations, Housebuilders, Developers, Land Promoters and Property Companies. They will look to introduce other complementary service lines in due course.

Richard joined Strutt & Parker in 2006 and was appointed as a Senior Director and Deputy Head of the National Development & Planning Department in 2020, taking responsibility for seven regional teams across the UK.

He helped set up and establish Strutt & Parker’s Oxford office in 2013, from which he created a market leading development and planning team which has been involved in the acquisition and disposal of more than £750million of development land across central England.

Piers joined the global property consultancy firm in 2014 and was most recently Senior Associate Director in the National Development & Planning Department.

Richard Foxon, Managing Director of Newton LDP Ltd, said: “Having started my professional career with Strutt & Parker 15 years ago, I am incredibly excited about removing the corporate shackles and establishing a successful new business with all the infrastructure and support available at Stockton House. The new business will be focussed on delivering an exceptional level of service to clients without the day-to-day distraction, high staff turnover and short-term outlook of many large corporate businesses.

“My interest in property and development started at an early age. Throughout the first 20+ years of my life, family-owned land was being promoted for development. This client-side experience has given me the best possible grounding and insight for a career as a Chartered Surveyor and has tailored the advice that I give to my valued clients. Unless I had seen first-hand the impact that the prospect of development can have on the personal lives of landowners and farming businesses, I would not operate the way I do today.”

Piers Beeton, Director of Newton LDP Ltd, said: “After 7 enjoyable years at Strutt & Parker, I am very much looking forward to using my experience, contacts and passion for development in this new venture, to ensure clients receive the best possible professional service in a truly bespoke and individually tailored manner.”

Richard and Piers will be joined on the board by non-executive directors Robert Wigley, James Davies and James Ellerington, all of whom have considerable business and property experience.

The business will be supported by a Central Services Team that will provide back-office services such as communications, accounting, security, and compliance from their headquarters at Stockton House in Warwickshire.
