It is hard to believe that it has already been a year since I joined Newton LDP as a Graduate Surveyor in the Development team. Looking back, the past twelve months have been full of growth and opportunity.
Coming from five years in the housebuilding sector, where I gained experience in both Quantity Surveying and Estimating, I was eager to apply that knowledge in a new environment, whilst broadening my understanding of land and planning. From day one, the team at Newton LDP gave me the chance to get involved in key projects, and that practical experience has been invaluable.
Over the past year, I have supported the marketing and disposal of strategic land opportunities and consented sites, gaining insight into the full lifecycle of development projects. Working alongside a director-led team has accelerated my learning and given me exposure to decision making processes that shape major development schemes. I have also had the chance to attend industry networking events and CPD sessions, which have helped me build relationships and deepen my knowledge of the sector.
One of the things I value most about Newton LDP is the collaborative culture. Being part of a small team that prioritises knowledge sharing and professional growth has made a real difference to my development.
As I move into my second year, my focus is on continuing to build my expertise and preparing for my APC. There is still a lot to learn, but I am excited about the opportunities ahead and the chance to contribute further to the team’s success.
